Market Background

Commercial kitchen equipment contains many narrow metal components that pass through uncoiling, feeding, cut-to-length, bending, stamping, or welding. Purchasing wide stainless steel coil and slitting it again after delivery adds material handling, machine occupation, and edge-scrap management.

Project Challenges and Requirements
Reducing Secondary Slitting of Wide Coils

The wide stainless steel coil needed to be processed into strip at the target width before shipment. Custom slitting allowed the material to move directly into uncoiling, feeding, and cut-to-length processing, reducing repeated slitting and specification sorting after delivery.

Matching Continuous Feeding Equipment

Coil inner diameter, outer diameter, and unit weight needed to coordinate with the production line, uncoiler, feeder, and workshop handling conditions. We reviewed the coil configuration during order confirmation to prevent coil diameter or weight from affecting loading and changeover planning.

Protecting Strip Edges and Surfaces

Strip edges require protection during slitting, recoiling, loading, and transportation. For visible components, surface condition, protective film, or interleaving material also needs to be confirmed to reduce the risk of scratches and edge impact during downstream processing.

Our Solution
201 Stainless Steel Material Selection

We supplied 201 stainless steel strip for selected indoor commercial kitchen components used in relatively dry conditions with a lower corrosion load. During material selection, we reviewed the installation position, cleaning method, and possible contact with water, steam, salt, and cleaning agents so that the strip specification matched the intended operating conditions.

Custom Slitting and Coil Configuration

We slit the 201 stainless steel coil according to the project processing requirements and confirmed the following items before production:

  • Material grade and thickness
  • Strip width and width tolerance
  • Coil inner diameter, outer diameter, and unit weight
  • Edge condition, surface condition, and protection requirements
  • Packaging, fixing, and transportation method

Aligning the slit width with the production-line parameters allowed the 201 stainless steel strip to connect directly with continuous feeding, cut-to-length, stamping, bending, or welding operations.

Edge Protection and Export Packaging

Because narrow strip edges can be affected by impact, we selected fixing and protection methods according to the coil dimensions. The packaging was arranged to reduce loose winding, edge deformation, and load movement. After custom slitting, the 201 stainless steel coil was delivered to the Konya project as narrow strip at the target width. The material could enter uncoiling, feeding, and forming according to the production plan, reducing secondary slitting and material sorting after arrival.

201 stainless steel is suitable for selected indoor applications with a lower corrosion load. Material selection should consider contact with water, steam, salt, and chloride-containing cleaners, together with the cleaning frequency and installation position of each component.

Strip width is not the only purchasing parameter. Thickness, tolerance, coil inner and outer diameter, unit weight, and edge condition all influence uncoiling, feeding, and forming, so they should be matched with the production-line equipment.
