Production Process of Stainless Steel Furniture
Stainless steel furniture (e.g., kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, balcony storage units) is valued for corrosion resistance and durability, with its quality relying on a precise 8-step manufacturing workflow:
1. Raw Material Selection & Inspection
High-grade stainless steel sheets (304 or 316 grade, 0.8–1.2mm thick) are chosen for their anti-rust and anti-deformation properties—critical for wet environments like kitchens/bathrooms. Each sheet undergoes strict testing: thickness checks via calipers, surface defect scans (to remove sheets with scratches or dents), and chemical composition analysis to ensure compliance with national standards.
2. CAD Design & Template Making
Engineers use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create 2D/3D models based on customer requirements (size, structure, hardware holes). After design approval, full-scale paper templates are printed to confirm component dimensions (e.g., cabinet side panels, vanity countertops) and avoid errors in mass production.
3. Precision Cutting
Cutting is done via CNC laser cutting machines (for complex shapes like cabinet door notches) or CNC shearing machines (for straight-line cuts on large panels). Laser cutting ensures ±0.1mm accuracy, while post-cut deburring (using abrasive tools) removes sharp edges—preventing worker injury and ensuring smooth assembly later.
4. Bending & Shaping
CNC press brakes bend cut sheets into 3D components (e.g., U-shaped cabinet bodies, L-shaped vanity sides) at preset angles (90° for most joints). A test bend is first performed: if the angle matches the design (tolerance ±0.5°), mass bending starts. This step guarantees components fit together tightly.
5. Welding & Seam Treatment
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding is used for stainless steel—its inert gas shield prevents weld oxidation, creating strong, clean seams. After welding, seams are ground with sandpaper (from coarse to fine) to make surfaces flush. Then, pickling and passivation are done: a dilute acid solution removes weld oxides, and a passivation film forms to enhance corrosion resistance.
6. Surface Finishing
Finishes are customized to user needs:
Brushing: Abrasive belts create fine parallel lines (matte texture, anti-fingerprint).
Sandblasting: High-pressure sand sprays produce a uniform frosted surface.
Mirror Polishing: Polishing wheels (with diamond paste) achieve a reflective finish (for high-end vanities).
All finished surfaces are wiped with anti-rust oil to protect against contamination.
7. Assembly
Components (panels, hinges, handles, drawer slides) are assembled manually or via semi-automatic tools. Key checks during assembly: door hinges are adjusted for smooth opening/closing (no jamming), drawer slides are tested for quiet, stable movement, and hardware is tightened to torque standards (to avoid loosening over time).
8. Final Quality Inspection & Packaging
Each piece undergoes a 3-in-1 inspection:
Appearance: No scratches, uneven welds, or finish defects.
Functionality: Cabinet doors close tightly, vanity countertops are level, and load-bearing tests (e.g., 50kg on cabinet shelves) pass.
Corrosion Resistance: A 24-hour salt spray test (for critical parts) confirms no rust.
Qualified products are wrapped in EPE foam + cartons (with corner protectors) to prevent damage during shipping, and installation manuals are included.
This workflow balances precision and efficiency, ensuring stainless steel furniture meets both aesthetic and practical needs for home use.
