This document outlines the streamlined manufacturing process for applying decorative wood grain or marble patterns onto stainless steel plates. The core technology combines a PVD vacuum coating for the base color with a thermal transfer process for the detailed pattern.
Substrate Pretreatment → PVD Vacuum Coating → Thermal Transfer → Post-Processing & Packaging
1. Substrate Pretreatment
This critical first step prepares the stainless steel surface (typically Grade 304 or 316).
Mechanical Finishing: The sheet is polished to a mirror or brushed to a hairline finish, defining the base gloss and texture.
Cleaning & Drying: The plate undergoes thorough chemical cleaning and drying to remove all oils and contaminants. A perfectly clean surface is essential for optimal PVD coating adhesion.
2. PVD Vacuum Coating
This step applies a hard, colored base layer.
Loading & Vacuum: Pretreated sheets are loaded into a PVD chamber, which is sealed and pumped to a high vacuum.
Plasma Etching & Coating: An argon plasma cleans the surface. Then, metal targets (e.g., Titanium) are ionized. By introducing reaction gases like Nitrogen, a hard, colored layer (e.g., Titanium Nitride) is deposited on the steel surface, creating colors like Champagne Gold or Black Titanium.
3. Thermal Transfer Process
This step applies the final wood or marble pattern.
Film Application: A specialized PET film, printed with the desired pattern, is applied to the PVD-coated surface.
Heating & Transfer: The sheet enters a thermal transfer oven. Under controlled heat and pressure, the ink on the film sublimates and permanently penetrates the PVD layer.
Cooling & Peel-off: After cooling, the carrier PET film is peeled away, revealing the finished pattern.
4. Post-Processing & Packaging
The final steps enhance durability and ensure quality.
Protective Coating: A clear, protective layer is applied to guard against scratches and corrosion.
Quality Inspection: Each sheet is inspected for color, pattern clarity, adhesion, and surface defects.
Packaging: A protective film is applied, and sheets are packed securely for shipment.
Superior Durability and Low Maintenance
Hammered Patina Stainless Steel Sheets offer exceptional resilience, combining the inherent strength of stainless steel with a unique, hardened texture. The raised hammered pattern is not just decorative; it effectively hides fingerprints, scratches, and minor surface imperfections, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. This surface treatment, applied to grades like 201, 304, 316, and 430, enhances the material's ability to withstand daily wear and tear. Furthermore, the rich, multi-tonal patina finish is not a mere paint coating but a deeply bonded layer that is highly resistant to chipping and fading. This results in a long-lasting, beautiful surface that requires minimal upkeep, saving time and maintenance costs over its lifespan.
Striking Aesthetic Appeal and Design Versatility
This product line transforms standard stainless steel into a dynamic design element. The hammered texture creates a captivating play of light and shadow, while the patina finish introduces a spectrum of deep, organic colors—from classic bronzes and coppers to modern blacks and blues. This fusion of tactile texture and elegant color provides a distinct visual warmth and artisan character, setting it apart from flat, monotonous metals. Its versatility allows it to enhance a wide range of applications, including elevator interiors, feature walls, column cladding, furniture, and backsplashes. It effortlessly bridges styles, complementing both rustic-industrial and sophisticated contemporary designs.
Material Choice for Every Environment
The availability in 201, 304, 316, and 430 series ensures there is an optimal grade for any project requirement and budget. The 304 series provides excellent all-around corrosion resistance for most interior applications. For coastal or industrial settings or areas exposed to chlorides, the 316 series, with its superior molybdenum content, offers the best defense against corrosion. The 201 series presents a cost-effective solution for interior decorative uses with less aggressive environments. For primarily interior, dry applications where formability is key, the 430 ferritic series is a strong, economical choice. This range empowers architects and designers to select the perfect balance of performance, aesthetics, and value.
